The Himalayas is the historic putting green alongside of the Old Course and the home course of the St. Andrews Ladies Putting Club founded in 1867. The course, resembling an ancient burial grounds for elephants, is laid out weekly and enjoys many competitive matches and 50,000 rounds per annum by the general public.

Accommodations
As our guests enter Monarchs House they will see a silver replica of the claret jug (the winner’s trophy for the British Open) on the foyer table and they know they are home – at the home of golf. The ground floor rooms are the soul of the house. The spacious and beautifully-appointed drawing room with stocked bar and fireplace glows with all the stories that have been told there. The formal dining room is the perfect setting in which to eat a fine meal created in the new professional kitchen.
The second and third floors of the house are comprised of seven bedrooms and a snug. The snug is home to SkyTV satellite a fine selection of DVD movies representative of Scotland’s past, present and future.
All seven bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, and all have been updated to the highest standard and decorated attractively and uniquely. Each bed is fit with luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets and allergy-free down pillow. The bathrooms are well lit, tiled and modernised.

This is the origin of the game, golf in its purest form, and it’s still played that way on a course seemingly untouched by time. Every time I play here, it reminds me that this is still a game.
