Congrats Steve Errington

Steve Errington of Burhill Golf Club

Imagine standing on the 4th tee of one of your favorite courses and you still hadn’t made par yet. Worse yet, you started double bogie, double bogie. You wouldn’t be happy, we’d think. Unless you did what Steve Errington did on Saturday, July 2 while playing Kingsbarns.

Fare Thee Well, Old Friend

Harmon Killebrew

We’re not big on baseball here in Scotland. We wouldn’t know a home run from an error. But it doesn’t take a baseball supporter to know this:  Harmon C. Killbebrew was as brilliant a man as one would ever meet. Today, he passed away after announcing recently that he would no longer fight the incurable esophageal cancer that he was diagnosed with in December.

Harmon loved golf, St Andrews and Monarchs House. He visited often and we will greatly miss our old friend. We wish his family strength and solace at this most difficult time

Flow gently, sweet Afton! amang thy green braes,
Flow gently, I’ll sing thee a song in thy praise.

~Robert Burns

First at Monarchs House 2011

The Brumfield Family

Recently, we welcomed our first residents of 2011 at Monarchs House. We were pleased to host to the Brumfield family of Katy, Texas. The Brumfields visited during the first week of March, enjoyed wonderful weather, golfed and took in all that St Andrews has on offer.

Haste ye back!

Dave Savoring His 41 Over the Himalayas

The Monarchs House Championship

Post the best score on the Himalayas Putting Green while staying at Monarchs House and we will engrave your name and score on the Claret Jug replica for time immemorial.

The Himalayas is the historic putting green alongside of the Old Course and the home course of the St. Andrews Ladies Putting Club founded in 1867. The course, resembling an ancient burial grounds for elephants, is laid out weekly and enjoys many competitive matches and 50,000 rounds per annum by the general public.

Congratulations to this year’s 2010 winner, Dave Kusy from New York, NY.
